Frigade API Gives Existing AI Agents Product Support Capabilities
Frigade, a provider of AI-powered product adoption and user assistance software, has launched Assist API, a new interface that lets companies add onboarding and product-support capabilities to AI agents they have already built. The API is part of the company's Frigade Assistant platform.
Rather than relying exclusively on documentation, Frigade uses a browser-based agent to interact with a customer's software using real user permissions. It works through application workflows to build a model of available features and their relationships. Frigade said the process repeats after releases so its product knowledge reflects the currently deployed software.
Developers register Frigade as a single tool available to their agent. The agent can then answer product questions or launch browser-based walkthroughs that highlight steps directly in the application. Users continue interacting with the company's existing assistant rather than switching to a separate Frigade interface.
The framework-agnostic API works with agents capable of calling tools, including those built with the Vercel AI SDK. Support teams can review conversations, correct responses and modify the agent's knowledge without involving developers.
For enterprise deployments, Frigade supports self-hosting with customers' own LLM keys and says product data can remain within their environment. Guidance also inherits individual user permissions, limiting the agent to information that user can access.
