DFIN Adds AI Translation and Summaries to Venue Data Rooms

Donnelley Financial Solutions (DFIN),  a provider of financial regulatory and compliance software, has expanded its Active Intelligence suite with AI-powered document translation and summarization capabilities inside its Venue virtual data room. The features target due diligence and other document-heavy financial transactions involving distributed teams.

AI Document Translation supports more than 130 languages and operates within Venue's existing permission-aware workflows. Administrators can set languages at the project level, require approvals, configure translation outputs, and audit activity.

Keeping translation inside the data room could be particularly relevant for mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets transactions, where teams may otherwise rely on external translation services that require sensitive documents to leave the controlled environment.

DFIN also added AI Document Summaries for supported PDF and Microsoft Office files. The feature generates concise summaries intended to help users determine a document's relevance without manually opening and reviewing every file. Those summaries can be shared with authorized users and translated into their preferred languages.

For enterprise IT teams, the release illustrates a broader pattern in regulated AI deployments: bringing models to protected business data rather than exporting data to standalone AI tools. Integrating AI with existing permissions, approval processes, and audit logs can preserve established governance controls while automating parts of document review.

The new features join DFIN's broader Active Intelligence portfolio for capital markets and transaction workflows.
