Nutanix Adds MCP Server for Agentic Hybrid Cloud Operations
Nutanix, a hybrid cloud leader, has released a Model Context Protocol server for Nutanix Cloud Platform, giving enterprises a way to connect AI agents and coding assistants with hybrid cloud infrastructure operations.
The open-source MCP server uses the Nutanix Prism v4 API to translate natural-language requests from tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor into infrastructure API actions. Connected agents inherit the platform's existing security and governance controls, including fine-grained role-based access control. The Nutanix Prism V4 API Gateway strictly handles all execution, governance, and security controls, enabling the MCP Server to provide a highly secure and predictable environment for enterprise AI operations.
The server is designed to support Fine-Grained Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), throttling, auditing, and asynchronous task management. Additional safeguards include API throttling and metering, audit logs identifying which agent initiated a command, and asynchronous task management for long-running operations. Human-in-the-loop controls allow administrators to retain oversight when agents analyze system health, generate diagnostics, or stage automation workflows.
For developers, the MCP server can provide coding assistants with platform specifications needed to generate scripts in languages including Python, Go, Java, JavaScript and PowerShell. Customers can download the server and connect it to their own AI agents.
