Express LUCK Deploys Edge AI for Factory Safety Monitoring

Express LUCK, a global television and consumer electronics manufacturer, has deployed an edge AI system from MemryX, a semiconductor company focused on AI inference acceleration, to monitor safety procedures on its manufacturing lines, bringing computer vision processing directly into the production environment.

The system analyzes factory-floor video in real time to identify potential deviations from required safety procedures. It uses MemryX AI acceleration technology to perform inference locally, an approach suited to industrial environments where latency, power consumption, and continuous operation can make reliance on cloud processing impractical.

Express LUCK manufactures more than 10 million televisions annually and operates facilities across four continents, serving customers in more than 90 countries. The company said it plans to extend the deployment with additional capabilities and potentially across more facilities.

The project is part of Express LUCK's broader Industry 4.0 program. The manufacturer has received Industry 4.0 Maturity Level 1i certification and is looking to expand its use of AI for safety, automation, and operational intelligence.

For enterprise IT and operational technology teams, the deployment illustrates a practical use for edge AI beyond generative AI. Processing computer vision workloads near manufacturing equipment can reduce network dependencies and latency, but wider deployments also require IT teams to manage models, accelerators, and software across distributed factory environments.
