WordPress.com Enables AI Agents to Take Direct Actions on Websites
WordPress.com, a hosted website platform, has introduced a capability that allows AI agents, including ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor, to take direct actions on hosted websites through conversational interfaces. The feature enables users to perform tasks such as updating content, managing site settings and executing administrative actions using natural language prompts. The system connects AI agents to WordPress.com through APIs, allowing them to translate user requests into site changes without requiring manual navigation of the platform. The updates allow users to instruct AI agents to draft and publish blogs, edit or update existing content, create new pages, manage site content and more, all through natural language conversing.
The update is designed to streamline website management by reducing the need for users to interact with traditional dashboards. WordPress.com said the approach allows developers and site owners to integrate AI-driven workflows into content and site operations. Enterprises are increasingly exploring ways to connect AI assistants to operational systems, enabling automation of routine tasks through conversational interfaces. WordPress.com's MCP write capabilities are available and compatible with any MCP-enabled AI agent for all paid WordPress.com plans.
