OpenAI Launches $100 ChatGPT Tier with Expanded Coding Access

OpenAI has introduced a new $100-per-month ChatGPT subscription tier, expanding its pricing lineup as competition intensifies in the market for advanced artificial intelligence tools.
The new plan, positioned between the company’s $20 Plus tier and its $200 Pro offering, provides increased usage limits for Codex, OpenAI’s AI system for software development tasks.
In a blog post announcing the update, OpenAI said the new tier offers “significantly higher usage limits” for coding workflows, including “up to 5x more Codex usage compared to ChatGPT Plus,” with higher limits available during an initial rollout period.
The company said the plan is designed for users who need more sustained access to coding capabilities but do not require the highest tier of service.
“We’re introducing a new plan to give developers and power users more flexibility,” OpenAI said in the announcement, adding that the offering is intended to support “longer and more frequent coding sessions.”
The move comes as demand for AI-assisted programming tools continues to grow, driven by developers using such systems to write, debug and automate code.
OpenAI said the new plan includes access to the same core models and features available in its higher-tier subscription, but with lower usage caps.
The introduction of a mid-tier subscription follows similar pricing structures adopted by rivals, including Anthropic, which offers a higher-usage plan aimed at heavy users of its Claude AI models.
OpenAI did not disclose detailed usage limits beyond relative increases, but said the expanded access is intended to reduce interruptions for users running complex or repeated coding tasks.
The company added that it plans to continue refining its subscription tiers based on user demand and usage patterns.
