Perforce Software Launches AI Strategy to Streamline DevOps Testing and Infrastructure

Perforce Software announced Monday a company-wide artificial intelligence initiative called Perforce Intelligence, designed to integrate AI capabilities across its development and operations software portfolio.

Perforce develops tools for managing source code and other aspects of the software development lifecycle. Originally focused on version control, the company has broadened its product portfolio to include solutions for code creation, testing, configuration management, and other DevOps-related functions. Its software is used by development teams to coordinate and streamline workflows in complex development environments.

The company says the AI integration will reduce manual work in software testing, infrastructure management, and team collaboration tools used by development teams.

In testing applications, Perforce says its AI approach eliminates the need for traditional test scripts by using visual and contextual validation that adapts automatically across different platforms. The company has reported that early customers achieved 50% efficiency improvements and 20% increases in test coverage.

"We are excited about where this can go," said Byron Chan, Digital Delivery Quality Assurance Lead at Servus, a Perforce customer, in a statement. "Eventually you could come up with test cases in this prompt format before development even starts."

The company plans to release Puppet Infra Assistant in June, a natural language interface that allows teams to query infrastructure data without specialized coding knowledge. One customer reported that tasks previously requiring three hours now complete in seconds using the tool, the company says.

Perforce has also integrated AI into Gliffy, its diagramming software for Confluence, enabling teams to create sequence and class diagrams three times faster than manual methods.

Jake Hookom, Executive Vice President of Products at Perforce, said the company views AI as "a strategic multiplier" for businesses adopting the technology within development operations workflows.

The Minneapolis-based company serves more than 75% of Fortune 100 companies across 80 countries. Perforce plans additional AI feature releases throughout 2025, including enhanced creative workflows and automated infrastructure management capabilities.

IDC analyst Jim Mercer noted in a statement that while organizations show AI interest, many struggle with implementation. "It will be important for companies and institutions to partner with organizations that provide them with high value and low risk when it comes to AI," he said.
