IBM Partners with Palantir to Deploy Open AI Apps

IBM and Palantir Technologies announced this week that they are collaborating on a new tool that combines Big Blue's hybrid cloud data platform with Palantir's next-gen operations platform. The new Palantir for IBM Cloud Pak for Data was designed to connect data and artificial intelligence (AI) models to simplify how businesses build and deploy AI-infused apps.
Palantir's Foundry development environment for building those AI-infused apps will now integrate with IBM's hybrid cloud data platform, Cloud Pak for Data, including Watson. Everything will be running on IBM's Red Hat OpenShift, the companies said, which will allow users to build these apps anywhere.
IBM's Watson, a data analytics processor that uses natural language processing, will provide an information architecture for this new product that combines data and AI with built-in governance. It is designed to provide an easy to use "no-code/low-code," environment, the companies said in a statement, "for building applications that use AI to inform data-driven decision making and automate tasks and processes.
Built on Red Hat OpenShift, the Palantir for IBM Cloud Pak for Data was designed to help businesses reduce data silos, integrate data sources across hybrid cloud environments, and govern data throughout the AI lifecycle. The product is being designed to help users securely build and deploy AI applications with that data quickly, to rapidly complement and extend existing enterprise systems and accelerate their digital transformation, the companies said.

"Together, IBM and Palantir aim to make it easier than ever for businesses to put AI to work and become data-driven throughout their operations."
This partnership with Palantir is the latest example of how IBM is differentiating and investing in its AI for business and hybrid cloud strategy. This week's news comes on the heels of partnerships with ServiceNow, Box, Slack, Cloudera, and MongoDB; acquisitions of WDG Automation and Instana; and more than 30,000 customers using Watson.
