Hexagon Robotics and Microsoft Partner to Advance Humanoid Robot Development

Hexagon Robotics, a leader in measurement technologies, has announced a collaboration with Microsoft aimed at advancing the development of humanoid robots by combining robotics expertise with cloud and AI capabilities. The partnership brings together Hexagon’s strengths in sensor fusion, spatial intelligence and robotics with Microsoft’s cloud-computing strengths in Fabric, Azure and AI services. The company's effort will focus on improving perception, decision-making and autonomy, with the goal of enabling humanoid robots to operate more safely and effectively in complex, real-world environments. With this collaboration, AEON, the a Hexagon industrial humanoid has already shown operational intelligence and real-time defect detection, marking a step towards deploying humanoids as a scalable solution to labor shortages.

Humanoid robotics has gained renewed momentum as advances in AI, simulation, and edge computing make general-purpose robots more feasible outside controlled lab settings. For enterprises, the Hexagon–Microsoft collaboration highlights how cloud computing, AI and practical digital technologies are increasingly viewed as foundational components for training, validating and deploying humanoid robots at scale.
