Amazon Launches Developer Hub for Nova AI Models, Releases Browser Automation SDK

Amazon on Monday expanded access to its latest generative AI models with the launch of nova.amazon.com, a website aimed at developers and technology enthusiasts interested in building applications using its in-house foundation model family, Amazon Nova.

The company also introduced a research preview of Amazon Nova Act, a new AI model designed to perform tasks within a web browser. Developers can now download the Nova Act SDK to create software agents that navigate websites, fill forms, and execute user-defined instructions — such as bypassing pop-ups or refusing optional services.

The move marks Amazon's latest step in the intensifying AI race among Big Tech firms, as it positions Nova as a cost-efficient, high-performance alternative to rival models from OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Amazon first announced Nova during its AWS re:Invent conference in December 2024, initially offering the models through Amazon Bedrock, its managed AI infrastructure platform.

"Nova.amazon.com puts the power of Amazon's frontier intelligence into the hands of every developer and tech enthusiast," said Rohit Prasad, senior vice president of Amazon Artificial General Intelligence, in a statement. "This is an exciting step forward for rapid exploration with AI."

Amazon Nova includes three large language models — Nova Micro, Lite, and Pro — capable of generating text from various modalities. Two additional models, Nova Canvas and Nova Reel, support image and video generation from text and image prompts.

The Nova Act SDK is powered by a customized version of the Nova foundation model and is designed to support AI agents capable of operating across digital interfaces. Developers can break down workflows into granular commands such as "search" or "checkout," and embed specific behavioral parameters.

Amazon described the SDK as a key milestone toward developing more reliable AI agents that can act autonomously on behalf of users in both digital and physical environments.

The company has also integrated Nova models into its broader generative AI strategy, powering products such as Alexa+, Amazon Q, and Rufus, as well as reinforcing its commitment to simplifying workflows for customers across e-commerce, advertising, and enterprise applications.

U.S.-based developers with Amazon accounts can access the new platform starting today. Nova models are also available for production deployment via Amazon Bedrock.
